Emerson's Outlaw Coupe

The Coupe is in the metal work phase. All of the old panels have been removed. We have prepped the floor openings for new floors and now that the inner longitudinal are repaired, Neutralized and cold galvanized we will begin the floor installation. The exterior sheet-metal on the rear of the car is repaired and we are almost done with the replacement of the door bottoms and lower door skins.

Richard Emerson's 1958 Outlaw Carrera Coupe

Starting with an original 1958 Porsche 356 Coupe we will build a Porsche that has the style of the classic 356 Carrera GT but with the power and handling of a Porsche 911.

•Body: The body will have very slight modifications to allow for clearances and to add a bit of style. We will do everything we can to get the weight as low as we can. It will run bumpers with only the GT deco aluminum deco trim. The color will be Bally Blue.

•Engine: The engine will be 4 cylinder 911 engine. It is 2/3 of the ultra reliable overhead cam engine that was used in the Porsche 911 for nearly 35 years. It will be a twin plug 2.5 liter overhead cam 4 cylinder. Reliable 200 hp with moderate compression to run on today's premium pump fuel.

•Transmission: The transmission is a close ratio 901 5 speed with AFMSX ratios. The shifter will resemble an early 356 but will be a much shorter throw and have a positive feel.

Brakes: The brakes will be annular internal disc brakes as used on the later Porsche 356 Carrera. These will provide excellent stopping power

•Suspension: The rear end will be converted to 901 rear trailing arms and IRS. It will no longer have the swing axle tuck. It will have moderate sway bars and Koni shock front and rear.

•Wheels: The car will have a 6” alloy version of the original steel wheels that were on the Carrera. They will be painted silver with out hub caps. Carrera wheel spacers will be used.

•Interior: The interior will be Carrera GT style with a set of Porsche speedster seats and a lightweight German square weave carpet. The interior will Tan/Saddle leather. It will have an original wood Nardi steering wheel and Carrera turn signal switches.

•Electrical: The car will be 12 Volt with an alternator charging system. It will have an MP3 jack and a hidden sound system.

The end result will be a Porsche that will look very classic and reminiscent of the early Porsche 356 Carrera with lots of style. It will have power and performance to give you a a very enjoyable and thrilling driving experience.

The exterior had been stripped a few years ago and someone began to disassemble it but abandoned the project

The car was originally the green as you can see here on the dash.

After we completely disassembled it and cut the old floors and longitudinals out we sent it off to be media blasted.

The body is in very good shape and is perfect for this project.

The Polopolus 4 cylinder 911 engine has been ordered. It will be a 2.4 liter twin plug with a mild cam for street use.

All the replacement sheet metal is in and it is time to get this body back in shape

Most of the Chrome parts are back from the chrome Shop. Some of these are for the Speedster.

Jack Arct did a great job restoring the visors.

The gauges came back and they are beautiful.

Does the car want a NARDI or a VDM

Joris restored switches will compliment the steering wheel.
