356 C Coupe Vintage Racecar / Outlaw When it was in race configuration

  • Engine - 1620cc full race with JE pistons built by Arthur Conner. 132 hp with lots of torque and mid range. Remanufactured Carburetors and Distributor by Don Marks.

  • Transmission - GT Limited Slip with modified main shaft. 2A, 3E, 3B, 4A Aluminum solid front and rear trans mounts.

  • Suspension -  Wright de-cambered front spindles, Koni shocks, Skimettes Camber Compensator

  • Fuel System - Fuel safe fuel cell in stock tank, Carter high flow fuel pump, regulator

  • Electrical - Light weight harness with quick disconnects at engine. 12Volt system, High Torque Starter.

  • Oil system - Full flow oil system with Oberg cleanable filter, and front mounted oil cooler

  • Exterior - Full Lexan windows, Lexan headlight lenses, Window straps, Raydot mirrors.

  • Interior - Red RSR Type Recaro race seats, full carpet, Fire System.

  • Wheels and Brakes - Minilites with 205 60/ 15 Yokohama A038 DOT race tires, Disc brakes with KFP Carbon brake pads.

 
 
 

First thing we did was remove the suspension Running gear and a good portion of the interior

We found a really nice 356 A Manual sunroof that we are going to install

Rick had to extract the sunroof frame from the original roof clip. We decided to install it like the factory does into the existing roof. as opposed to clipping it at the window posts.

The interior light mounts had to be removed. They will get welded back in after the frame is installed into the roof.

 

The drain tubes had to be repaired.

The next step is that Jansen placed the frame into the roof for mock up to see what needs to be done.

Darrin gives Jansen a few pointers as they get ready to tach it into place.

Some of the support brackets needed to be reshaped. Remember this is an A sunroof going into a C car.

 

Once the frame was tacked into place. Jansen drilled a few location holes from the bottom side as locators for the cut.

He uses a BluePoint nibbler to make the cut

After the panel was cut out it was time to start rolling the edge over. Jansen used a hammer and dolly to roll the edge and then did his final trim as he went along.

The opening is very close. It will need a bit more tuning once we put the sunroof panel in place. then we can finalize the gap
