April 3, 2:30 pm - Fontana, CA - Mid-race report - After a great start, on-track incidents took the #24 10th and M Seafoods 911 out of the hunt to finish well. Within the first 30 minutes of the race, the #37 Porsche of TPC Racing entered turn 3 too hot and used the Emory Motorsports 911 as additional braking power, causing moderate damage to left side of the car. A short while later, the car was rear-ended by an unidentified competitor.
You can see in this picture that the bumper is flapping in the wind. Driver Chris Ridgway pitted shortly after this photo was taken and the crew set to work.
Jumping into action, crew chief Jeff Gamroth efficiently orchestrated the some 25-minute pit stop to repair the left front fender, driver's door, replace the front strut and the two left side wheels.
The car will not be able to turn its fastest laps without the ability to dial in the car's geometry after such an accident. More information as it becomes available.

The 10th and M Seafoods 911 finished the race running, in 20th position in class and 38th overall.
Despite the car being somewhat less than it was before the t-boning incident, Chris Ridgway turned some fast laps. "I drove the car for all it was worth. I had nothing to lose," said Ridgway. In fact, he turned laps as fast or faster than before the incidents.
Rod Emory said, "We came, we finished and we had fun. For us, that is a success. It wasn't the finish we were hoping for, but that's racing."
Despite the vehicle damage, the team feels very good about what they accomplished this weekend.
They would like to heartily thank all their sponsors for their dedication and steadfast support of this team.
To all of their fans, they say "Wow, you guys are awesome. We're glad you're hanging with us. The next race should be even more fun." |
